Since 1989, Opera Piccola has served over 500,000 children, adults and families in libraries, senior centers, parks, malls, homeless shelters and other accessible gathering places. Opera Piccola is amng the first Bay Area companies to created interactive 'fusion' operas - productions that combine jazz and multicultural music. Opera Piccola brings portable scenery, lights and colorful costumes to transform any site into an intimate theater space. Opera Piccola is known for its innovative use of audience participation, while it makes the performing arts fun and educational for all ages.

Urban Myths Series
Being Something: Life in a U.S. City
Urban myth, Being Something,
premiered to great acclaim in 2005 at the Oakland Metro Theatre.
Created in collaboration with acclaimed director Ellen Sebastian Chang
and Stagebridge Senior Theatre, Being Something,
presents a view of urban life that is poignant and funny, gritty and
otherworldly. Using dance, music and drama to explore an interconnected
group of lives in Oakland, this work raises questions and offers new
perspectives on life in American cities.
